Amazon.com Product Description
Easy to use without sacrificing style, the Nokia 6300 offers great voice communication, plus a number of other useful features. The stylish and compact phone comes loaded with an integrated 2.0-megapixel digital camera and 3GPP video player/recorder, MicroSD card support, Bluetooth, and support for Java applications and games. The Nokia 6300 also features Macromedia Flash Lite 2.0 for interactive user experiences with video, audio, and graphics. This unlocked cell phone can be used with a GSM network service provider and it provides tri-band connectivity (850 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz) as well as Class 10 EDGE data network compatibility. It does not come with a SIM card, and it requires that you provide a SIM card for usage with your selected service provider.

Nicely thin and packed with multimedia features, include a 2-megapixel camera and MP3 player.
Design
First and foremost, the 6300 is designed for stylish simplicity. Large, easy-to-press buttons are arranged on a sleek rectangular-shaped case. A large 240 x 320, 16.7 million color display resides above a five-way center button that controls most of the phone's menus and functions. A 2.5mm headphone jack is provided if you want to use a wired headset for calls or for music playback on the built-in music player. Volume control keys are available on the right side of the phone, while USB connectivity is featured on the phone's bottom edge. The backside of the phone houses the device's 2.0-megapixel camera lens. The phone features a microSD slot that accommodates cards up to 2 GB, and lastly, because the 6300 uses an internal antenna, there's nothing to snag or break off.

Calling Features
The 6300's built-in address book can store up to 1000 contacts for quick and easy management of phone numbers and addresses. In addition to a vibrate alert, the phone is compatible with MP3 and MIDI ringtones, as well. It even supports video ringtones. Different ringtones can be set for groups of callers so you know who's calling without having to look at the device. A call log keeps track of your recent dialed calls, as well as your most recent missed or received calls. Plus, there's a speakerphone so you can talk all you want without having the phone to your ear. Push-to-talk and a voice command feature are also included (push-to-talk usability is carrier dependent).

Messaging, Internet, and Tools
The 6300 has all the bases covered when it comes to messaging and Internet connectivity. Use the phone's built-in picture messaging capability to send text, graphics, and pictures to your friends. The phone features support for instant messaging applications, and there's a built-in WAP 2.0 Web browser (supports HTML, xHTML, TCP/IP) for downloads and mobile Web browsing. The phone also supports Nokia Xpress Audio Messaging (AMS)--a fast and simple way to send voice or sound clips via MMS. T9 text entry, a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit--a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the 6300 including a calculator, a calendar, and an alarm clock. The 6300 also comes with SyncML already built-in--an easy way to sync your phone and PC's contact list and calendar via USB or Bluetooth. If needed, the 6300 can be used as a wireless modem for laptops and PDAs. Use the supported EDGE high-speed data transfer protocol for high-speed Internet connectivity.

The 6300 also sports an airplane mode feature, which allows the user to safely use the non-wireless functions of a phone (such as music, games, or organizer functions) on an airplane during flight.

Imaging and Entertainment
Customize the graphics on the 6300's screen to give your phone a look that suits your tastes. Plus, the 6300 is Java enabled, meaning it supports games written on the Java platform. Document your latest adventure with the phone's advanced 2.0-megapixel camera that features an 8x digital zoom, or with the camera's supported video recorder. The built-in advanced music player supports MP3, MP4, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, H.263, and H.264 music files. Lastly, high-quality video can be streamed straight from the device. And because the phone supports the A2DP and AVRCP Bluetooth stereo profiles, you can wireless stream music to compatible Bluetooth-enabled stereo headphones, enabling completely untethered music enjoyment.

Vital Statistics
The Nokia 6300 weighs 3.17 ounces and measures 4.09 x 1.73 x 0.71 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 3 hours of digital talk time, and up to 12.5 days of digital standby time. It runs on the 850/1800/1900 GSM/GPRS/EDGE frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

Customer Reviews

Excellent Little Phone (2008-10-03)
For the price, this phone is one of the best i've ever had. Good battery life, good screen, good reception and clear voice audio. It's slim and light and not bulky like a lot of the flip or Blackberry phones. You can carry it in your shirt pocket without a problem.

not a good mobile (2008-09-23)
Mobile looks good.
very bad in receiving calls, lot of distrubance.
poor battery(even with out single call bettery getting drained after 10 hours).

This is the first BAD item I bought in amazon.com

Dropped calls just one problem (2008-08-01)
Seems everytime I switched cell phone towers I lost my connection. Screen very difficult to read outside during the day. Ring tone low, missed 2 calls when other cell phone would have heard. Couldn't see anything set up wrong but alarm would only buzz, even when listing to tones to select for set up. Volume low when used handset while in bluetooth mode in car.

A great phone. (2008-07-17)
Let me start out by saying I have had many phones over the last 8 years, but this is one of the best, if not THE best. The screen is BRIGHT! It looks good but you can not adjust the brightness. The menus are the epitome of intuitiveness. Call quality is great, although the volume could be a little higher. Overall a well built piece of technology. I would definitely recommend this phone to anybody looking for a great phone.

Pros:

1. Bright screen
2. Easy to use menus
3. Excellent call quality (voices sound clear and crisp)

Cons:

1. Cannot adjust screen brightness
2. Call volume could be a little higher

Great Phone...I Love It (2008-06-12)
I am a loyal Nokia customer. I have used their bar phones for years and have always appreciated their durability & reliability even though they weren't the sexiest phones. Well the 6300 has the old reliable Nokia qualities to go with a great style. I love this phone! Nokia has really stepped it up on this one. Being that AT&T does not carry this phone I had to buy it unlocked. No problem using the standard sim card from AT&T. My contacts and everything switched over. No need to purchase the software or mini usb cable that is sold seperately. I was able to download the software (Nokia Suite I believe it is called) off the Nokia site and was able to sync the phone with my outlook using the mini usb cable from my Creative Labs MP3 player once the software was downloaded. Once I synced my calendar and contacts from Outlook I had to use Nokia's customer service via the web to allow me to send and receive multi-media text messages. That was easy...they sent the settings straight to the phone and all I had to do is punch in a pin number that they send you and you are ready to go with multi-media messages including sending pictures from your phone to friends & family. I had to make a similar request of customer service to begin receiving AT&T's Media Net but that was just as easy just follow the directions. The only cons: I wish the battery lasted a little longer - I am having to charge every 2 days. To get the cap off the mini usb port takes a little effort and the call volume could stand to be a little louder. But if you are like me and like Nokia & their bar phones but want a more modern up-to-date phone you will love the 6300.
